I like being busy. I like being involved.I..I...I...
Today I read this:
" 'The press of busyness is like a charm....it reaches out seeking always to lay hold of ever younger victims so that childhood or youth are scarcely allowed the quiet and the retirement in which the eternal may unfold a divine growth.' The truth is as much as we complain about it we are drawn to hurry . It makes us feel important . It keeps the adrenalin pumping. It means we don't have to look too closely at the heart or life. It keeps us from feeling our loneliness."
So now thoughts about that as well as thoughts on being a productive member of society and leading a fulfilled life are mish-mashing in my head

I just realized the other day that a lot of us who have grown up in Western environments around Western noise would have no idea what to do if we had to sit in silence without doing anything and with no noise in the background, personally I wouldn't be able to do that for a minute
i.e. away from the noise and constant motion a lot of us have no clue who we are.
rat race, i thought it was fear that drove it
So true! This is why I love out of town trips to deep gishagi where you have nothing but silence all around you. And you can see the stars in the sky. Very good for regenerating!
I've taken to driving around at certain times of the day with the car radio off. No music, no nothing. Just me listening to the ambient sounds.
that is so true! when you slow down and sit down quietly with your thoughts....
@mwangi:when I was home last, it was definitely more than once that I was told to just chill out. Funny enough, I was never a 'busybody' until I came here.Still dont think I am necessarily. I could name loads of people waaaay busier than m.But yeah , I need to learn how take some time out..at least once a week. You kwanza you should have full days away from the internet;). Theres more to life, i guess.
@odegle:heh, it is. Fear is one of the most powerful emotions.Fear of poverty, loneliness, insignificance, fear of...etc etc. Sad isnt it. We live life but dont enjoy it.
@egm:I love them too!Shags is really cool, lakini after a few days i start getting antsy and thats after Ive carried books, music or work to do. I'd like to feel fulfilled even when I'm bila all the random stuff that I pack into my day. Silence is golden. I'm not too good at it though. Will actively have to practice just being in silence and being still.
@31337:Usually i think I'm with my thoughts all the time, so i don't see the need of just sitting and thinking. But it has to be done. I stopped listening to music on the way home in the bus..one step closer to embracing silent/unhurried moments.yay!
Me, away from the computer...blasphemy ;) I'm working on it, I'm definitely working on it.
I've laughed. You do that!
